The Estate

C155The Van Wolf manner was built in 1824 by one of the four founding members of the Bentwood Shores community, Barron Fredrick Van Wolf and his wife Baroness Hilda, and had remained the estate of the Van Wolf family descendants for nearly two hundred years.

The home sits nestled between two gently rolling hills with a commanding view of the ocean front below. Canopied by three large sweeping willows and nicely dressed by a curved brick drive and well cultivated flower garden in front, the stately brown stone manor is a historical landmark Bentwood Shores takes pride in noting in all of its city literature, and until it had fallen into decay, was part of the Bentwood Shores historical walking tour.

Today, its more known claim to fame are the many legendary ghost tales that have arisen since the death of Baroness Van Wolf, and the legacy of mayhem her deceased husband left their six children.

With its luxurious oak wood detailing, double curved staircase, and attic watch tower, the four bedroom home had been the most prestigious in all of Bentwood Shores, but for the last fifty years, no one has lived there…until now.
